At the census of 2000, there were 2,049 people, 643 households, and 518 families residing in the town. The demographics of the town are rapidly changing, though as the town enjoys a steady, healthy growth. Now, at the end of 2005, Lochbuie has more than 1,200 homes with a population approaching 4,000 people and it is one of the 10 fastest growing towns in the state.
Lochbuie is 6 air miles from Denver International Airport and a short 15 minute drive from either the main passenger terminal or the freight terminals and the hotels and motels serving the airport. Several private or municipal air strips are located within 10 miles of town. The town is also served by Interstate-76 and the Burlington Santa Fe railroad. Downtown Denver, including the cultural center and 6 professional sports teams and an NHRA championship drag strip, is less than 30 minutes away. Several world class shopping opportunities are located within an hour drive and a new center is currently under construction within 10 minutes of Lochbuie.
In addition to being a residential center, the town has more than 100 acres of recently zoned and annexed prime retail and industrial property available for development as well as some 60 acres of municipal use and recreational land in the planning stages of development.
Lochbuie is a full service town providing water, sewer, police, solid waste collection and recreational services. EMS service is provided by a hospital based ambulance service with back-up by a county-wide third serve ambulance and fire protection is provided by two fire departments.
