FAQ For Permits

With the arrival of warmer weather, homeowners are presented with ample opportunities to undertake home improvement projects. However, before starting any construction work, it is important to determine whether a building permit is required. Obtaining a building permit not only ensures that the work is safe by mandating inspections, but also provides homeowners with an official record of the work for insurance purposes, the selling of a property, and the protection of property values.

Some of the construction projects that require a building permit include additions, air conditioners, carports/patio covers, basement finishes, decks, fences, garages, pole barns, furnaces, new construction, re-roofing, swimming pools, hot tubs, water heaters, pergolas (if attached to the home), siding, and sheds larger than 120 square feet.

Don't risk the safety of your home or face potential legal consequences by neglecting to obtain a building permit for your construction project. Contact the Building Department at the Town of Lochbuie for more information on the permit application process and to ensure that your home improvement project is safe, legal, and properly documented.
